What We Offer
OUR PROGRAM STRUCTURE
BTR TMRW provides a small, structured environment where individuals with intellectual disabilities can build the skills they need for adult life and meaningful work. Instead of large groups and one-size-fits-all routines, our approach emphasizes intentional support, hands-on practice, and real responsibilities that matter outside of a classroom setting.
Our focus is on real-world skill building, not academics in the traditional sense. We help participants develop confidence, self-direction, and the habits that contribute to success in daily life and future jobs.
How Our Program is Structured
We work in small groups and personalized settings that allow each person to feel seen, safe, and supported. This structure helps participants stay engaged, build trust with staff and peers, and make consistent progress over time.
Real-World Skill Development
Rather than relying on worksheets or lecture-style instruction, we focus on experiences and activities that mirror the expectations of daily life and work. This includes:
Practicing routines and habits that support independence
Working with tools and technology that help with organization and communication
Learning through doing, with guidance and coaching throughout
This approach helps participants connect what they practice here directly to what they will face in adult life.
Partnerships With Other Educational Programs
Participants remain enrolled with their charter school or independent study program. BTR TMRW works alongside those programs to support the goals set by each family and their educational team, focusing on the skills that help learners succeed in daily life and future work.
SOCIAL COGNITIVE THEORY
Our Guiding Principles
At the BTR TMRW, our work is guided by a simple belief: when students feel supported, respected, and understood, they can thrive. Our micro-school environment is built on the principles of Social Cognitive Theory, which emphasizes how people learn through a combination of personal strengths, helpful behaviors, and positive environments.
Helping individuals speak up for their needs and make confident choices.
Self-Direction
Skill Growth
Encouraging new skills through guided practice and reflection.
Goal-Focused
Supporting personal goal setting and follow-through.
Community Connection
Creating an inclusive environment where everyone belongs.
What Makes Our Approach Different?
Many programs focus on general supervision or social time. At BTR TMRW, we emphasize purposeful growth through:
Intentional, structured days with clear expectations
Support that helps individuals become more confident and capable
Practice in real-world tasks, not just abstract lessons
Families appreciate that our work is practical and grounded in what matters most for adulthood and employment.
