About BTR TMRW

1. What is BTR TMRW and how is it different from a school?

BTR TMRW is a nonprofit program that supports individuals with intellectual disabilities in building real-world skills, confidence, and preparation for adult life and meaningful work. We are not a school of record or academic institution. Instead, we provide structured support that complements participants’ existing educational pathways.

2. Who benefits most from BTR TMRW?

Our program is a good fit for individuals with intellectual disabilities who thrive in small, structured, supportive environments and whose families want preparation focused on life skills, independence, and work readiness — beyond what traditional or status-quo models provide.

How the Program Works

3. How does BTR TMRW work with my child’s current educational program?

Participants remain enrolled in their existing program (such as a charter school with independent study or homeschool program). BTR TMRW works alongside that program to support goals tied to daily life, routines, and adult-oriented skills. Services from your existing education program (like IEP services) continue independently of BTR TMRW.

4. What does a typical day look like?

Each day includes activities and routines that encourage responsibility and confidence, such as supported tasks, communication and social engagement, practice with tools and technology, and experiences that reflect real-world expectations. Every day is shaped around each individual’s strengths and goals.

5. How many participants are there at a time?

We keep groups small — intentionally limiting the number of participants so each person receives focused support and attention.

Support & Services

6. Will my child still receive services like speech therapy or occupational therapy?

Yes. Your child’s current educational or healthcare providers continue to offer services like speech, occupational therapy, or counseling as outlined in their individual plan (e.g., IEP or ISP). BTR TMRW provides additional structured supports that work alongside these services.

7. Who works with my child?

Participants are supported by experienced professionals who focus on practical growth and development. These team members help implement daily activities and align supports with each individual’s goals.

8. Do you use a specific curriculum?

We help individuals build practical skills through guided experience and hands-on routines rather than a specific academic curriculum. We support participants in real-world practice and connect experiences to future work and life goals.

Funding & Logistics

9. How can BTR TMRW be funded with the Self-Determination Program (SDP)?

Families can use their SDP individual budget to purchase services and supports that align with their goals and the participant’s plan, including supports like those offered by BTR TMRW. The Self-Determination Program gives families control over choosing services that fit individual needs.

10. How do I know if BTR TMRW is covered under SDP?

Services like structured life and work readiness supports, technology tools, and personalized growth activities are often eligible under SDP service categories when they match the goals in a participant’s individual plan. We work with you and your team to clarify how our services align with your goals and funding.

General Questions

12. Can my child join part-time or just after school?

BTR TMRW provides structured support throughout the day as part of a shared schedule designed for intentional growth. At this time, we focus on full-day or consistent engagement rather than only after-school or occasional attendance.

13. Who can I contact if I have additional questions?

Feel free to reach out to us at any time. We’re happy to answer questions not listed here and help you explore whether our support model aligns with your family’s goals.

14. Do you have plans to support individuals who have completed K–12 schooling?

Yes. BTR TMRW is actively developing programming for college-age and transition-age individuals with intellectual disabilities. These efforts are focused on supporting continued skill development, increased independence, and preparation for meaningful work beyond high school.

We are also in early collaboration with post-secondary institutions to explore pathways that extend learning and support into adulthood, while remaining aligned with each individual’s goals and support plan.
